Broken Arm

I guess if you are going to meet your high deductible you might as well finish off the year with a bang! Mckenna was in the ER during July with dehydration after a nasty stomach bug. Then Brinley had her firework accident that costs us a lot of money because we had to take her to the U of U burn center. Our final (hopefully since the year is almost over) health issue was Mckenna falling down the stairs and breaking her arm. We were all bustling around trying to get ready for pack meeting and Mckenna was at the top of the stairs. She doesn't know what happened but she tumbled down. She must have stuck her arm out because when I picked her up her hand was hanging down weird and she was really hurting. I held her for a bit and she got really pale, wouldn't eat her dinner and wanted to go to sleep. She couldn't make her fingers move so we were pretty sure it was broken. We didn't wait and took her to the after hours clinic. After her arm was x rayed they determined her radius and ulna were both broken. It wasn't a serious break....they called it a buckle break and it is known to heal perfectly. She had two weeks in a long cast and two weeks in a short cast. It was a pain because it was her right arm but we made it through!

We had to wait 5 days for the swelling to go down before we could get the cast on.
Mckenna called this her "purse"
She wanted pink and purple so the doctor did his best to do stripes.

The short cast was much better.

Date to Des Moines

Little M and I decided to go hang out with Charli and Aunt Kelsi for a few days. Because Mckenna is the youngest, she really gets left home on a lot of trips. Now that she is a big girl, she gets to go. She is such a great traveler. We had lots of fun just spending time together. Mckenna wasn't used to having a little pal (Char) to share with and so there was some fighting but overall I think they really enjoyed each other.
Cute little girl with a cute little cast and a cute little Dora suitcase.
Dad walked us to the gate and had a talk to M about airplanes.
Probably their favorite thing was jumping on the bed together.
Me and my baby sis
We did a little shopping and bought them these darling boots at TJMaxx
The bath was a fiasco because the sack that Mckenna needed to wear over cast was super scary to Charli!
Mckenna even warmed up to Uncle Tom
We brought reindeer ears from the dollar store and the girls were so funny wearing them.
I love my girls!
It was fun to have a friend in the car!

The girls had a blast at the play place at the mall.

We got one day that warmed up so we went on a walk. The girls held hands part of the way.

Sugar Cookies and Pumpkins

We really are the lucky ones to live so close to Grandma and Grandpa Remund. I can't imagine our lives any other way. It's nice to be able to call and have them come right over any time! We tried to make it work with Powell's schedule to carve pumpkins but it didn't happen. We invited Grandma and Grandpa over for Sunday dinner and decided we would carve pumpkins and make sugar cookies. I made the cookie dough but I knew mom was the expert at rolling them out. My frosting was too sweet but they still tasted good. Thanks mom and dad!

Princess Pumpkin.....super easy!

Halloween 2013

Powell requests Halloween off every year so it was fun to have him home. We went to the ward trunk-or-treat and then went with the Huffs and the Henkes around our old stomping grounds on the west side of Heber. It was really Mckenna's first year to understand what was going on and she loved it. Her and Brinley wanted to be princesses and Hunter was a horse head man.
Brinley had a party during kindergarten and one of the moms came in and did face painting. Isn't it amazing? We almost hated to wash it off but it wasn't the right face for a princess.
One of these dudes is realllllllly tall.
Sometimes Mckenna just wanted to sit in the car and eat candy instead of going out to trick or treat.
