The Main Event Man!

So I've been totally making fun of Powell for his latest business venture.
Ya you read the sign right. "TheMainEventMan" has been selling wii's again this year along with the WiiFit. Unfortunately, it hasn't panned out as well as last year. Anybody want one?

My Niece's turned 4 today!

I wasn't really prepared for how small my niece's would be when I met them for the first time. The pictures make me cry! I was so afraid for their lives when they were born at 2 lbs 11oz. and 3 lbs. 4oz. Kelsi and I flew up to Spokane to stay with my sister-in-law at the Ronald McDonald house for a few days. My brother was in Pullman in vet school at the time. I can't believe that today they turned four and are so beautiful, smart and healthy. I love them so much. Happy Birthday Maddie and Saige. Thanks for bringing so much joy to our family!

Pig Tails!

My little girl is growing up. I've been waiting for her hair to be long enough for pig tails and it's barely there! It is getting more difficult to do her hair because she shakes her head back and forth now when I'm trying to get the elastics in. Taking the picture is a whole other problem. She is just such a stinker right now, but we love her!

Has anybody seen Indiana Jones?

Halloween was a little more eventful this year because Hunter got lost! We were with a group of friends, which made it hard for me to notice that one kid was missing. Of course, this happened when it was dark also. Anyway, my friend Karen said, "where is Hunter?" We all started looking around and got all the kids together. They said they remembered seeing him a few houses back. We started yelling and looking. My friend Lauren told me to stay with the kids and with Brinley and she ran around the neighborhood we were in. My friend Melissa jumped in her car to look. A group of ladies walked past and said, there was an Indiana Jones down that way by himself.

So here is Hunter's story.......
I was trick-0r-treating and I got a piece of candy at a door and I thought I saw a lady with a stroller that was my mom. I started following that group. When I got closer, it wasn't my mom so I just kept going on that street. I had 3 ways I could choose and I didn't know what way to choose. Then I saw my old pre-school teacher and she wanted me to come with her to find my mom. I told her I haven't seen her for a long time so now she is a stranger. Then I saw a teacher from my school, Mr. Ailshie, so I started trick-or-treating with him. I got a few more pieces of candy and then Melissa came in her car and found me!

I asked Hunter, "what were you thinking, were you freaked out?" He said, "I just thought to myself, I guess I am really LOST!" I asked him how he was going to find his way back and he said he didn't know!

While I was sitting with the kids waiting, they were sitting on the sidewalk talking. Savannah said, "Mom are we going to find Hunter, I'm really scared." I said, "Yes, I think we will find him". Then Hannah said, "I guess if we don't find him then you are back to having 2 kids like you had before." Savannah then said, "All we can do is pray." Then Jason, Claire, Ben, Savannah, Hannah, Jake, Tanner etc. all bowed their heads and said their own prayer for Hunter to be found. It was a good experience and I must say I'm proud of myself because I didn't lose it! I stayed calm and practiced all my "techniques" I've learned over the years!

Happy Birthday to my SISTA'S

So my sister Rachel had her 25th birthday on the 20th of October and Kelsi has her birthday tomorrow.....the big 23! I'm so grateful to have them as my sisters. They keep me young, as you can see from this lovely picture. We were practicing our seductive mexican dance we made up for our reunion! Killer, huh?!

Hee Haw!

We had so much fun at Hee Haw farms in Pleasant Grove. To our surprise, Daniel and Melissa were also going the same time. As soon as we got out of the car we heard some wild honking coming down the road. Yaaaaaa! Our friends could enjoy Hee Haw farms with us!
They had several fun slides for the kids.
We had a blast finding our way through the corn maze!
















The kids loved seeing how much they had grown. Brinley even stood straight and tall to see "how tall, this fall".







Powell really had to squeeze but he made it into his horse to ride on the animal train.

Marvelous Maui!!!

Let me just tell you......Maui was MARVELOUS! I've been home one day and I'm already trying to figure out when I can go back. I was soooooo nervous about leaving the kids and they did great. I had three different babysitters. A big thanks goes to my sister Rachel and her husband Dean who stayed for 4 of the days. Dean even held down the fort while Rachel went into work one day in Salt Lake (what a guy!). I also had help from many other friends that I owe big time! My poor mom couldn't help because she had surgery.....sorry I didn't stay home to take care of ya mom! I could go on forever about our trip but I don't want to be obnoxious (I think I already have) so I'll post pictures of the "HIGHLIGHTS" of our trip.

We drove the road to Hana and saw many waterfalls, hiked through a bamboo forest, swam at the black sand beach, etc. It took all day and was quite an adventure. This was the highlight of that day.....swimming and hiking around "seven sacred pools".
This is the beach right in front of our condo. This is 3 hours before our flight. I had to get every last bit of Hawaii possible before we left.
I'm in the "relaxation room" in my robe waiting for our massages. This room is open to the ocean. We stayed in a condo to save money but I surprised Powell by booking a couples massage at the Hyatt for our anniversary. It was his first massage ever. He says it will be the first of many. I should have never got him started!
Snorkeling.....we had two good days of it and saw sea turtles both days and lots of different kids of fish. Powell took this great picture under water.
These are macadamia nut pancakes with the best sweet cream on top. We covered them with coconut syrup. Oh my gosh they were soooooo yummy!Can't do Hawaii without a convertible.

We drove down the side of a steep mountain on a one lane road in search of "The best banana bread on the planet". It was a town of 30 families that lived in the north part of the island. Several families make their living by selling homemade banana bread, coconut candy, and fresh fruit.Here is Powell holding a loaf of "Julie's Famous Banana Bread"
This is Wailea. We wanted to stay here but couldn't find a room in any resort for under $450 a night. Crazy! Powell lived in the condo's on the far right when he was in 6th grade. It was his first time back.

Birthday Girl!

Brinley celebrated her first birthday on September 14th. We are so in love with her! She is such a doll. We are all enjoying her emerging personality. Savannah and Hunter get the giggles every day watching her spit, throw food, make funny sounds, etc! She had a great birthday at Grandma Remunds. We went there to open gifts because Grandma had surgery and we thought she'd enjoy watching Brinley open gifts from her recliner! The highlight of the evening was the chocolate cake (of course). Brinley loved it at first but when she was done she started throwing pieces of cake overboard. What a mess! We love you Brinley Bear. Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts. She sure is spoiled.

So Naughty, but so cute!

I've been wondering why I can't seem to stay on top of things! As I was looking at pictures to scrapbook today, I realized what the problem is. I have a busy little girl who is always getting into things. But you have to admit, she's pretty cute!

My Boy

I have to admit that when I started having kids I really didn't care if I ever had a boy. Boys seemed unruly, smelly, and obnoxious. When I found out my second was a boy, I cringed a little bit. I figured I'd learn to love him. Then when Hunter was born I fell in love....more than I could have imagined. I don't know what it is about my Hunter but we have a special bond. I've really had a hard time letting him go off to kindergarten looking so grown-up (it doesn't help that he is sooooo tall!). I told him I was going to be sad and he said, "Mom, I'll always be your baby." On thursday, he marched with confidence into kindergarten for the first time . Then he looked back and started blowing me kisses.....I thought my heart would burst. I couldn't have guessed 5 years ago I'd have such a bond and a love for my BOY.

Saying goodbye to my hero

Lunch at the Grill Room for Grandma's birthday: August 1, 2008So my grandma Remund passed away on monday. She was 92 and a wonderful example to me. I grew up next door to her so she was a big part of my life. I'm so happy they moved her to the assisted living down the street from my house in March. My kids also enjoyed building a relationship with her. Here are some reasons why she was my hero:

She got a college education (back when few women went to college)
She went on a mission at 19 (back when few women went on missions, one reason she was allowed to go at 19)
She served 5 more missions with my grandpa
She made me feel important, special, loved and appreciated
She loved to travel all over the world
She looked for opportunities to serve others
She studied the gospel and was my gospel dictionary
She endured to the end

I will never forget our time together. She had a porch swing that we would sit on for hours talking and enjoying each other. I will miss her but I'm glad she can be with her loved ones again. Her mom died when she was 11 and she missed her so much. What a happy reunion that must be!

Is there a tooth fairy?

So the question Savannah has been asking for the past few months "Is there a tooth fairy" was put to the test last night. When I went to check on the kids before I went to bed, I could see my old jewelry sack around Savannah's wrist. It was really tight and there was a tooth in it. I asked Savannah the next morning "What was the deal with that sack around your wrist?" Savannah said for the tooth fairy to remove the tooth, he/she would have to get the sack free, causing her to wake up. That way she could see if there was a fairy or if it was just her parents. Well, low and behold, the toothfairy somehow got the sack off her wrist, took the tooth, and filled it with money. I guess Savannah's question has been answered!

Savannah's Special Baptism Day!

I can't believe my little girl is 8! She looked so beautiful today in her white dress (Powell looked pretty hot in his suit also!). The baptism and confirmation were just perfect. I told her last night to get ready for her baptism. She packed her bag and then went to read her scriptures before she went to bed. She is such a great example to our family. Here are some of the things I love about Savannah:

She always forgives others
She is good at the piano
She is artistic
She is a good student and loves to read
She has the most beautiful dark brown eyes
She is my helper with Brinley
She makes good choices and is sad when her friends don't

Thank you to everyone who came and supported us, brought food, and gave Savannah such nice gifts. We love you!
