Princess Festival

 

We went to the Princess Festival at Thanksgiving Point last Saturday with Aunt Ashleigh and Cousin Lexi. I took all 3 girls but Mckenna mostly rode in the stroller and Savannah made it VERY CLEAR that she was not participating and was NOT A PRINCESS (if anyone asked). The event was really for Brin who LOVES to be a princess. Brinley was really shy for the first hour but finally warmed up to Lexi and enjoyed listening to a few of the shows and walking around looking at the princesses. We bought her a new tiara and she loved having her face painted. Savannah also got a Y tattoo on her arm. Afterwards we met up with Powell and Hunter (who went to Boondocks) and had Cafe Rio with Ashleigh and GrandTom and Grandma Carrie. It was a great day!

Hunter and his swimming!

Here is Hunter this spring swimming in Uncle Brett and Aunt Nat's pool in California. We went for a really quick trip to take Grandma and to go to Aunt Nat's baby shower. It was so fun to be in the sun and for Hunter to practice his swimming.

When Hunter was little he refused to take his life jacket off during swimming lessons. After he took 2 classes and didn't pass, we ended up hiring a private swim instructor. She was awesome and helped him get over a lot of fears. He also learned a lot from swimming in Uncle Brett's pool in California several times. Brett challenged him and he spent lots of days swimming so he really improved. This year I put him in group swimming lessons again and he did great. I was worried the last day when they were testing though because he couldn't find his goggles. I assumed we had left them at the pool the day before so I told him to just get in the car and we would find them in the lost and found at the pool. Well, we couldn't find them and Hunter was freaking out. I was watching from up above and he kept yelling....."mom I can't do it without my goggles. I can't do it! I can't swim without my goggles!" It brought back memories of him not being able to swim without his life jacket. I was like, you've got to be kidding.....you aren't going to pass because of your goggles!  I kept telling him to go do the test. One time he swam across the pool and he yelled really loud, "Mom, I can't breathe without my goggles!" I guess this kid just gets really attached to things! Anyway, at the end, the instructor said, "I didn't know if he was going to make it without his goggles but he did it and HE PASSED!" Thank goodness!

Our tradition on the last day of school is to go to the Kamas pool. Powell was home this year so we decided to take Mckenna. She was such a good sport (as usual) and loved the water.

Pinewood Derby!

Here are the scouts from our ward. Such great boys!

Powell and I were in charge of the Pinewood Derby because we are the Cubmasters so it was a busy night for us. It was Hunter's first derby and he worked hard on his car with Powell.

These were the cars. We invited family members to participate if they wanted too. I made twinkie cars for each scout and each boy got an award. We also had 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies.

This was the track that recorded the times. Each person was able to race 6 times (twice on each lane). The computer then tallied the winners.

Growing Up!

I could keep Mckenna at this age forever! She is squishy and cute and still so happy. She is in no rush to meet her milestones and really didn't sit up well until almost 8 months old. She is starting to army crawl and is getting into things more and more. I love that she sleeps 10-12 hours a night.. She eats 3 small meals a day of baby food and nurses 4-5 times a day. Like I said, I'd love to freeze time .....for just a little while!

Pre-School!

Brinley's Pre-school class had an end of the year party at Chucky Cheese. Powell was home so we decided to all go! Even Mckenna learned how to ride some of the rides, thanks to her big sister.

 This was Brinley's pre-school graduation. Notice there is one mom up on stage with her child.....yes, it's me!!!! I wasn't too happy about it but Brinley was the youngest one and really wasn't supposed to be in pre-school yet so that was my excuse for her shyness! I gradually moved over to the edge and eventually into the crowd about half way through. The program was super cute. We LOVED Mrs. Terri and are excited to have her again next year.
