Did I tell you I'm in LOVE?

 I am in awe of this little girl. She is at the age where I stand back and wonder who this little spirit will become. I wish that I could freeze time for just a little while so I can enjoy these moments for a bit longer. She is perfect  and I'm so glad she joined our family.

These are glasses that were left behind by a friend just the other day and Mckenna has been obsessed with them. I couldn't get her to stop long enough for me to take the pictures so I just started snapping them while she was walking back and forth down the hall and back again......funny girl!

Finally some snow!

 I normally wouldn't encourage my kids to go out and play in the snow on a Sunday before church but they haven't had any chances this year so I said "GO FOR IT!". Hunter made an attempt to make a snowman....which I didn't end up snapping a picture of. It was a short little guy with carrot eyes and a small red pepper for its nose.

Piano Festival Once Again!

 Having a "pre-teen" (I really feel like I have a full blown teenager) made the piano festival a little more stressful this year. Savannah was down to the wire on memorizing and getting her accompaniment with Hunter......BUT the good news is that she sailed threw with flying colors. I didn't think I'd live through it but I guess I need to just relax and trust that she will pull it off in the end.

Swim team for Savannah

 Savannah has been on swim team off and on for 2 years. She doesn't like to compete but enjoys going to practice twice a week. I am always an advocate for exercise so I have been ok about her not competing. Quite honestly, I'm so darn busy, it's just one more thing. Anyway, I decided to go to her regular swim team and just see her swim. I was amazed at what a good, strong swimmer she is! WOW! She was NOT happy about me taking pictures while I was there and she didn't want me down on deck so I had to take pictures from up above so some of them are not super crisp. While I was in Des Moines, Savannah went to swim team and didn't realize that it was actually a meet that night. She stayed and competed and took 2nd place in the back stroke. Now maybe she will want to compete a little more.

30 minutes of Mckenna's life

 Powell decided to follow Mckenna around for about 30 minutes to take some pictures. I'm telling you.....up and down, in and out, all around. A 17 month old is so busy and SO CUTE!

Valentines

I love to be creative and to make things but don't always have the time. Anyway, Hunter wanted to make something musical for his Valentine box so I thought a guitar would be fun. It wasn't hard....we used foam board from Walmart and taped a box behind for the Valentines to go into. He then decorated the from of it! Savannah wanted to make some kind of funny monster so we used things we already had around the house to create hers. We used the leftover foam board from Hunter to make the teeth, a leftover tissue paper flower for the hair and pom poms for the eyes. The tongue was just colored paper and we wrote her name on it. I'm kind of sad it's Savannahs last year to do a valentine box!

Science Fair

Hypothesis:

Urban Legend has it that Coca Cola will dissolve a steel nail within 14 days.

     My hypothesis is that Coke will dissolve a steel nail within this time because of the high sugar content in the drink.

   Because Diet Coke does not contain any sugar, I am also hypothesizing that it will not dissolve a steel nail.

Conclusion:

I concluded that my hypothesis was wrong and so was the urban legend.  I hypothesize that maybe the sugar was preventing the nail in the Coke to not to dissolve.  I assume the sugar was coating the nail and making it harder to rust.  The Diet Coke nail didn’t rust very much, but it rusted more than the nail in the Coke. I’ve conclude that a nail will take longer than 14 days to dissolve.  

Savannah did a great job but didn't get chosen to go to BYU this year so she was really bummed. I'm just so proud of her and her love of Science. Her teacher didn't require her to do a project but she still CHOSE to do one.....amazing! I would never do that!
