Cozemel Mexico

Our second port day was Cozemel Mexico. Cozemel is an island off of the Yucatan near Cancun. Our friends told us to rent our own car so we could see the island. I don't know that I would do that again. There was one main road and the kids got kind of bored driving around. It was a big loop that basically brought us back to the same place. We hoped to find a beach on the south side but the water was too rough so we ended up coming back closer to the ship and asked a resort if we could swim on their beach. They said for $10 a person (excluding Brinley) we could swim there, use their pools and showers, beach chairs and snorkel gear. It was totally worth it.

I just love Mexico! We went to a rental car place and they took us back behind where there were random cars parked in the dirt next to some trees. They gave us a car that didn't have seat belts for the kids. Powell asked if there was another one with seat belts and the man said....."don't worry, seatbelt is not mandatory in Mexico". Powell said, "That's fine but we WANT seat belts! They looked around until they could find one that had seat belts. They were really rusty but we took our chances. Notice my coke...they still serve them in bottles which have to be returned after you drink it.

We stopped off the beaten path at this store. There was a lady working inside that didn't speak any English. Everything was SOOOOO cheap. The kids got a kick out of the different flavors of drinks and candy. The woman was also selling cake that she had made, eggs from her chickens and other random things. Two little girls came in with a little bit of money to buy them a treat to share. Powell told them to get what they wanted and he would pay. Their little faces lit up with excitement. They each grabbed a bag of chips. They smiled and waved as they both got on the same bike together to head home.

Did some snorkeling. They MADE us wear these weird life jackets. They don't care about seat belts but they like you to wear life jackets.
